No hot water: check this first

1. Is the tank actually full? An empty tank with the heater running dry can trip a thermal cutoff.
2. Propane or electric mode, and is the source on? A water heater switched to gas with the tank empty of propane, or to electric with no shore power, looks broken and is not.
3. Listen for the igniter clicking. Clicks with no flame usually means a thermocouple or a gas supply issue. No clicks at all points to the control board or a switch.
4. Check the burner tube for a blockage. After months sitting unused, debris in the burner tube is one of the most common causes of a will-not-light water heater.

Long idle time in storage. Freeze risk, rare but real. Texas winters are usually mild, but not always. A valve that will not fully close lets tank contents sit against it and, eventually, fail to seal completely, which is when owners notice an odor inside the rig that was not there before. Replacing the valve and the seal solves both the leak and the smell at the same time.

Fresh-water taste and odor
