Mobile RV Repair FAQ: Conroe and Montgomery County

Yes. Storage-yard calls are a large share of our work, since a lot of Montgomery County RVs live in a secure bay rather than a park. Give us the facility name, your gate code, and your space number when booking. Many yards run keypad or app-based access, and we check in the way any visitor does.

Yes. Lake-house calls usually mean a dock pedestal, typically 30 or 50 amp, which is enough to run most diagnostics and repairs without extra setup. Tell us the dock layout and whether the rig has shore power connected when you book.

Engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension, and anything else chassis or drivetrain. That is truck-shop work. We repair the house side: roof and sealant, rooftop AC, slide-outs, refrigerators, water heaters, furnaces, plumbing and tanks, generators, fiberglass, and 12V electrical.

No. We are independent, not a dealer or factory-authorized center, so we cannot perform manufacturer warranty repairs. If your component is under warranty, contact the manufacturer first: some reimburse independent repairs, many do not. We will be straight with you about which applies before you spend anything.

Not for general coach repair. Texas does not run a state license for motor vehicle or RV repair shops the way some states do. The exception is propane: the Railroad Commission of Texas requires anyone who installs, services, or repairs an RV's LP-gas system to hold the right certification (a Category M license covers RV containers, appliances, piping, and systems). Ask to see it before any propane job starts.

Mold and mildew on the evaporator coil and in the ducts. Montgomery County runs muggy from roughly mid-April into late October, and a coil that never fully dries grows it, especially on a rig that sat closed up for weeks in a storage yard. A proper coil and drain-pan cleaning fixes it, usually in the $200 to $450 range. It is not a reason to replace the unit.

Inspect every year and expect to reseal high-wear points every two to three years here. Texas sun dries and cracks lap sealant, and the wet season and hurricane season test every joint it left. The smart window is spring, before the heaviest rain months, while the sealant can cure on dry days.

No, and with a dead slide you usually cannot tow it anyway, since most rigs should not travel with a slide extended. Slide motors, rack-and-gear mechanisms, and synchronization problems are all repairable where the rig sits. Stop forcing it and call; forced slides turn cheap repairs into expensive ones.

Usually not. Most will-not-light calls after a long sit are a corroded thermocouple, a clogged burner tube, or a failed igniter: repairs in the $150 to $450 range, not the $700 to $1,800 a replacement costs. We diagnose before quoting either way.

That is a surge, and it is a real risk here: Montgomery County sits in the path of Gulf hurricanes, and Hurricane Beryl in July 2024 left tens of thousands of Conroe-network customers without power for days. A surge during an outage or the grid coming back can take out several boards at once. We test each board separately, give you one combined written quote, and tell you honestly whether the total makes sense against the rig. Photos and a written scope go to your insurer. Afterward, a hardwired surge protector at the pedestal is the cheapest insurance you can buy.

A freeze like that (Conroe hit 9°F on February 16, 2021, during Winter Storm Uri, with Montgomery at 8°F and The Woodlands at 10°F) is rare here but not impossible, and an RV's plumbing is not built for it the way a house is. Undrained fresh, gray, and black systems can split lines and crack fittings in a single hard night. If a freeze warning is coming and your rig is not winterized, that is a same-day-priority call, not a wait-and-see one.

In season, dealer service departments commonly book weeks out and prioritize units they sold. We typically schedule mobile calls within days. Spring and early summer, when everyone is prepping for lake season and hurricane season at once, is our busiest stretch, so book early then.

For diagnosis and approval, yes, by phone works if you cannot be on site, as long as we have access arranged. Many storage-yard and lake-house jobs run with the owner elsewhere: we document with photos, call with the quote, and function-test on video if you want to see it work.

Yes: travel trailers, fifth wheels, Class A/B/C motorhomes, and toy haulers on the house-systems side. The systems we repair (roof, AC, slides, plumbing, appliances, 12V) are largely the same hardware across brands.

Year, make, and model of the rig; what is failing and when it started; and exactly where it is parked: a street address, a storage facility name with gate code and space number, or a lake-house lot. Dock or driveway access notes save time on the day.

Texas does not license general RV repair, so a written diagnosis, insurance, and (for propane work) a Railroad Commission certification tell you more than the word 'licensed' in an ad.

Genuine urgencies (an active roof leak in a downpour, no AC on an occupied rig in August, an unwinterized rig ahead of a hard freeze) get triaged first, and when the schedule has room we will take a same-day run. Most calls land within days, which still beats the in-season dealer queue by weeks.
